Green Thumb 2Our March program on March 7 is “Imported Fire Ant Management and Biology”, by guest speaker Tim Davis, PhD., Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent, UGA.

Fire Ants are despised, feared, and painful. We have all encountered these nimble and lightening fast invaders found predominantly in our sandy soil who can suddenly attack in surprising ways. Learn what impact they have on our coastal environment and discover effective methods to curtail these nonnative pests. Dr. Davis with years of experience studying ants and testing products to treat an infestation, has a wealth of information to share.

We meet at the Messiah Lutheran Church at 9:30 am for coffee and sweets, have brief club announcements at 10 am followed by our program, which concludes at 11:30 am. Dues are $25/individual or $30/family.

Green Thumb meets the 1st Wednesday of the month, Oct – Apr., at Messiah Lutheran Church.  Guests are always welcome for a $5 fee.  For more information, contact Betty Stout (598.9693 or etstout456@aol.com ) or Kristina Svenson (598.9470 or akekris@bellsouth.net ).
